Supplies and Smiles!

Donation protected
I am raising money to purchase materials and classroom supplies for a fellow teacher, Sara Gonzales, and her Special Education students at South Houston Elementary School in the Pasadena School District in South Houston, Texas. I am asking for donations (no matter how small) in an effort to provide pencils, paper, folders, crayons, scissors, markers, books, and arts and crafts materials to help them continue their learning process after the devastation of Hurricane Harvey, and to bring smiles to their faces as well. All money raised will be used to purchase materials to be mailed directly to her classroom. Any amount is appreciated!

Thank you in advance! Please share!

Below, I have attached a letter from the Superintendent of the Pasadena ISD:

Letter from the Superintendent to Parents:

Attention Pasadena ISD Parents –

This is an important message from Dr. DeeAnn Powell, Superintendent of Pasadena ISD Schools.

I hope this message finds you safe. The devastation and tragedies over this past week have been heartbreaking. During these hard times we’ve seen the Pasadena ISD community come together and help one another. From the shelters, to the volunteer efforts, donations, and outpouring of love and care for one another, our children and our district have been overwhelmingly supported.

Thousands of our families took in water to their homes, and we recognize there is much more work to be done. The foundation of a great community is its schools. We have been working feverishly around the clock assessing all 67 campuses and all district facilities making sure they are safe for our kids and employees to return to school and work. The damage at most of our schools is minimal. This allows us to make the necessary repairs and to resume classes Monday, September 11, 2017.

We are hoping to start all students on September 11th, but unfortunately, Frazier Elementary, Williams Elementary and Thompson Intermediate have much greater damage. If a later start date is needed for these students, we will communicate with the families directly.

When students return to school, we know many of them will have their individual Harvey stories, unique needs, and will require time to heal. We will use this time to listen and care for each child. Counselors will be on hand to help our students during this time. For our students, this will be a new beginning, a new start, a do-over so to speak, a time when the 2017-2018 school year can begin again.

Thank you for all you have done for our kids, our community and our school district. We will continue to keep you updated as plans continue to take shape.

Together, we are
PASADENA ISD STRONG
