What is the Junior Ambassador Program?
The Junior Ambassador Program is a program geared towards teens 16-18, who prove their responsibility, determination, and true love for animals to the rescue. Teens are selected to partake in this program, which consists of a summer trip down to South Carolina and Georgia to see the reality all of where our rescue dogs come from. Depending on the trip, these teens spend anywhere from a couple days to a couple weeks visiting shelters, different rescues, hoarding situations and truly being able to see the unseen with their own eyes.
Picking a “Project” Dog
Something very unique to the Junior Ambassador Program is having the ability to pick a “project” dog while down South. A project can be anywhere from one dog, to an entire litter of puppies, it is really what the Junior feels the greatest connection to. Project dogs typically have medical issues, or are not the easiest to work with, which is therefore why the Junior steps in to save a dogs life that might not have been otherwise saved. Picking a project also helps the teens witness the “full circle” of what a rescue dog goes through. From the moment they are pulled from the shelter, they are now the Ambassadors’ responsibility. Juniors aid in microchipping, vaccinating, and getting them healthy for transport to go up North, while also fostering them once they come to New Jersey. This aspect of the Junior Ambassador program makes it truly unique and a very rewarding experience for the Junior’s themselves once their project gets adopted into a loving home.
Your Donation Truly Helps the Juniors
Another aspect of the Junior Ambassador program is the fact that the Juniors raise all of their own money in order to partake in this eye-opening experience. From bake sales, to car washes, the Juniors take initiative and do it all. Donations go straight into saving many more dogs while also covering the medical expenses of dogs in need. Any donation large or small truly helps these Ambassadors do what they love, SAVE DOGS!
