Jenny's Wish
Written by Jenny's mum, Amanda.

Jenny is just 18 years old.
In April 2013, Jenny was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour. She had felt poorly for a few months but this was a terrible shock to both of us. A few days later she had surgery to remove the bulk of it and send off a biopsy. It was a sarcoma, which is not good. She had a second surgery to try to remove every last bit of it. This was risky but had become essential because of the severity of her situation. She then had 6 weeks of daily radiotherapy and 6 months of chemotherapy. For a few months we thought she was getting better but she started to struggle with her breathing and sadly after a lot of investigation the hospital found another tumour. This time in her heart. She had open heart surgery and miraculously recovered very well from that surgery, all the time trying her very best to live a normal life. She was so brave and never complained. She had another gruelling few months of chemotherapy. This really damaged her heart function but she felt it was worth the risk. Within a short time more tumours were found in her arm and leg. This meant more daily radiotherapy, which left her badly burnt and in a lot of pain. We still hoped that she would be cured although it was becoming less likely. In December 2016 another tumour was found in Jenny's brain. This time it was inoperable and the only treatment possible was a one off blast of intense radiotherapy called SRS or Gamma Knife. Over the past couple of weeks Jenny started to have headaches and sickness and my instincts told me that this was another tumour. Jenny and I have always talked very honestly and we felt it was time to acknowledge the possibility of her death and how she wanted things to be. Sure enough, the MRI scan showed a new tumour had appeared and grown rapidly in the few weeks since her last brain scan. This time there's nothing to be done other than palliative care. She doesn't want to prolong her life by having anymore chemo or radiotherapy as the benefits would not be worth the pain and sickness. Her doctors support her in this. She's coped so well with the news that she only has a few weeks left to live. Our plan now is to have the very best time we can and have lots of cuddles with each other and our friends.

Since diagnosis, Jenny has thrown herself into raising funds for a number of charities including The Brain Tumour Charity and Once Upon a Smile(Children'sBereavement Charity).
But more recently her main concern was how her Mum, Amanda would cope after her death.

Our Aim
We feel with the new's above, it's now to make Jenny's last wish come true.

Jenny would simply like to spend a tranquil couple of days in one of the most beautiful destinations on earth. It is a place she found some time ago and has longed to visit, Switerland.
Amanda wants to make this dream come true for her whilst she is feeling well enough to travel and we would like to help her by raising the money to send them.

Jenny, you are a true inspiration to many and we hope to make this possible for you.

You are brave, thoughtful, beautiful and you are dealing with this with humour but most of all dignity.
