summer relief for our burros

$350 of $5,000 goal

Raised by 14 people in 7 months
Summer is approaching. Hotter temperatures at an animal sanctuary means FLIES. Here at Wild Burro Rescue and Preservation Project we have 200 animals (burros, horses, mules and one cow). Every spring/summer we begin the horrible bout of fighting off the flies and their effect on many of our animals: allergies resulting in awful sores that need medical care to alleviate the sores.
Recently we learned of a company called Spalding Labs. They have "predator flies"...in their own words:

"Fly Predators are the natural enemy of flies, but never bother people or animals. Without resorting to chemicals, you’ll kill flies before they emerge. That way they never get a chance to bother you or your animals or reproduce by the gazillions.
You simply sprinkle Fly Predators near all manure areas every three to four weeks during warm months. It just takes a few minutes and you’ve done your fly control for the month. It’s as simple as opening a sack of potato chips!
Preventing flies is key, If you just go after adult flies buzzing around but that’s only about 15% of the population at any time. If you don’t stop the future ones you’ll be plagued all summer."

We have ordered some to start early in our war against the flies. We will be ordering 200,000 predators every 3 weeks or so. The cost is roughly $400 per month or more depending on how many we will need. We have a lot of ground to cover and many corrals that these predators will be put in.
We are asking for help in getting us through the hot months. Every little bit helps us to defray the cost of these predators that are essential for making our burros lives more pleasant in the coming hot months. If we can reach our goal of $5000, we believe that will take care of the upcoming shipments we will be getting.
Our burros need your help! We are hoping to give them a fly-free summer. No more irritating fly bites!

We are well into the summer months now. We all like the warmer weather and longer days...so do the flies! We need to keep the Fly predator shipments coming in to keep a head of the fly problems we encounter every summer. It costs us roughly $400 a month to keep the supply of these critters well stocked. We have a lot of corrals, so we need a LOT of the fly predators! Any amount you can help us with would be greatly appreciated.
Help us to keep our burros free from these nasty flies and gnats that are so problematic during these hot months.
For those new to this campaign, here is a little something about the fly predators:
"Fly Predators are the natural enemy of flies, but never bother people or animals. Without resorting to chemicals, you’ll kill flies before they emerge. That way they never get a chance to bother you or your animals or reproduce by the gazillions.

Won't you help our burros to have a more comfortable summer? Thank you all for your support!

Good afternoon all! I just wanted to remind you of our need to keep our burros free from the millions of flies that are coming now that the days are getting hotter.
We have gotten our first shipment of the fly predators that will help us to keep the flies at bay.
These predators cost $400 a month to keep them in abundance for all our shelters and corrals.
Any amount you can send our way to help defray the cost would be so very much appreciated!
Thank you for all your love and support for our burros. A big happy braying coming your way, too, from the burros! Our newest burro to join our burro family is Bart and he sure would like to enjoy his new home minus the flies!

The temperatures are on the rise here. That means the beginning of the fly season. We are going to try a whole new method of attack here at the sanctuary: fly predators! We have scheduled the shipment of these predators (200,000 of them!)approximately once a month. It is essential that we get this program going ASAP for our burros. So many of them are not only plagued by them but some have a very bad allergic reaction to the fly bites. These predators kill flies before they emerge.
The cost is going to be roughly $400 each month. Would you like to sponsor a month of relief for our burros? Ask your friends to chip in and help.
The burros need this relief for the coming hotter months. If you can help, please do so!
Don't forget that your donation is tax deductible.
Thank you for you support and love for our burros, mules and horses.
