Summer Exhibitions Fundraiser
Donation protected
The Museum of the Aleutians brings a diverse range of changing exhibitions to the Unalaska community and to the Aleutian region. These exhibitions range from natural history, science, and archaeology to local and regional history, art, culture and people. The Museum operational budget at this time does not fully cover costs of producing exhibitions and additional funds through community donations are needed.
Funds are currently needed to support the summer 2018 (June) exhibition, “Bering Sea” artwork by Carolyn Reed. Carolyn is a professional artist that has lived in Unalaska since 1987. In this show, Carolyn showcases new and old woodblocks, etchings and drawings to explore the relationship between humans and the surrounding sea and focus on the impact of the ocean environment on identity and ‘home’. The funds raised will be used for shipping costs, production of exhibition graphics, the creation of an exhibition guide, bringing to Unalaska a speaker (Ray Hudson) for associate events/workshops, and designing art-making workshops and activities for all ages within the museum. $6,000 is our goal, but truly, every donation makes a difference and we appreciate any and all community support.
