The Bailey's are Beating Cancer!

Our current journey started on Easter Sunday when John was diagnosed with a blood clot in his leg and spent two days in the hospital. After we returned home, our family doctor decided to have an ultra sound ordered to help determine the cause of the  blood clot.  Following the ultra sound, a CT-Scan was ordered for the following day. A few days later, our new normal began. John was told he had probable Pancreatic Cancer. We found out on Thursday and on Tuesday we were headed to the number one cancer medical center, MD Anderson in Houston, TX.  After multiple tests and one painful biopsy we met with the Doctor about what options we would have.  John was officially dignosed with Metastatis Pancreatic Cancer.  Unfortunately, the cancer had spread to his liver and surgery was not going to be an  option.  Chemo was the course of action chosen by his doctor and he began treatment the next day.  The doctor advised us that the best treatment plan consisted of  chemo for 4 months doing a routine of 3 weeks on, 1 week off. After 2 months he will do a CT scan to evaulate the progress and change the "chemo cocktail" if needed. 

Vickie has taken a permanent leave from her teaching duties for the remainder of the school term. They are currently searching for temporary medical housing and meeting with the insurance company about possible financial options. We are so appreciative for all the prayers, cards and positive thoughts as well as the support offered by families, friends, co-workers, church family, neighbors and our community.
