Suman's Breast Cancer treatment

Donation protected
We made some great friends living in India over the years, including Sumit and his family so we were really sad to hear that his mum, Suman, had been diagnosed with breast cancer, not just because of the disease itself but also because we know the stress and financial strain of navigating India's health system.

When I was diagnosed with breast cancer the NHS really came through, offering coordinated, professional care for free. Suman and her family don't have that luxury. Instead, they have to shop around for options in a marketplace where quality varies dramatically trying to balance the right care and their limited budget.

Already financially drained from the first set of treatments they have no way to fund the double mastectomy and chemo she now needs. The hospital requires this £1400 - the equivalent of a year's salary - as a lump sum upfront to start treatment and though everyone in the family is pitching in they can't raise this sort of money, especially after all the other expenditures. Suman and her husband have worked hard to give their children the chance of a better life but the cost of this treatment is putting that future at risk.

Can you help us get Suman the treatment she needs and keep the family out of financial distress?

*UPDATE*  The family has secured some local funding and this, combined with what we have already raised (£440) means that they can now cover the cost of the treatment. I've changed the goal to £600 just in case you would still like to contribute and to cover any further/unforeseen treatment or expenses that might crop up.
