Diamond & Titan; Fate of 2 Pitties

Donation protected
2 beloved rescue pets, DIAMOND & TITAN, are impounded at the county shelter after an accidental escape from their home, which resulted in a bite incident. These 2 family dogs have NO prior bite history! Under the local ordinance, a dog bite incident without a prior history is NOT subject to immediate euthanasia. Animal Services has not recognized the protections of the ordinance in this case.

The owners, a husband & wife who have been amazing in raising money for Pitbull advocacy over the last year, were separated during the time of questioning. The dogs' owners were threatened and told if they did not surrender the dogs they would be arrested. Animal services is not a law enforcement agency and has NO authority to arrest anyone. Further, if animal services had called law enforcement, the police cannot arrest someone and criminally charge them for refusing to surrender family pets. These Lee County citizens were threatened, coerced, and lied to - that is how Lee County Animal Services was able to get one of them to sign an "alleged" surrender document.

Within minutes of that moment, they rushed to animal services to clarify what they had signed, & receive copies of the papers they signed. Animal services adamantly refused to give them a copy of the document that had been signed. The County refused to honor their pleas to reverse the coerced surrender, and has continued to refuse to let the owners rescind the coerced decision. Two lawyers immediately joined the fight to free these dogs.

This poor family & their children been denied due process & visitation of DIAMOND & TITAN from the system, which did not follow protocol & seems to have a mission to make examples of all local Pitbull bite cases. Make no mistake, if these dogs were Labs or cocker spaniels, they would not have been sent to death row at Lee County Animal Services.

During the months these two wrongly seized dogs were in the shelter, all requests for information about them have been denied. The couple have NEVER been allowed to see the dogs. They have been told at all times that the dogs are Fine. Well, they are not fine. In December, sweet DIAMOND became terminally ill under Animal Services care, & unfortunately was euthanized due to the extent & lack of treatment of her illness ... Animal Services told the owners as late as December 28th, that the dogs were "fine" & being cared for. The family was not notified until DIAMOND had 48 hours to live, according to Animal Services veterinarian.

What is TITAN's fate? He was only 7 months out of a horrific abuse & neglect situation at the time he was impounded, & was still recovering emotionally & physically from his severe injuries.  Titan suffers from a chronic kidney illness & requires medication ... We have no way of knowing if he is receiving it.

TITAN must be shutting down in that shelter, having no contact with his family & likely suffering from depression (extremely common in these situations).

PLEASE HELP US SAVE TITAN BEFORE ITS TOO LATE.

We want a resolution that will save TITAN from suffering the same fate DIAMOND has already succumbed to.
