Study Abroad Trip : Ghana
Hello, My name is Jarie Rawls and I'm a junior at the University of South Florida. I am a Mass Communications major and minoring in Africana Studies. I'm raising money to go to Ghana with my school this May. On this trip I will be studying and also teaching at a Ghanaian orphanage for two weeks.

Instead of going to Europe or Asia, I decided to study in Africa (Ghana to be exact). I was first intrigued by this trip because it's a service learning trip. I will be living with a host family during a “homestay” while engaging in service to others and contributing to the educational development of local children. This trip is also important to me because I'm currently minoring in Africana Studies. Personally, I do not like the representation the media portrays about Africa and I would like to change that. I want learn about their culture and gain a higher respect for this country and Africa itself. After I return ,I would like to enrich people minds and teach them about Africa.
