Haleigh Studer has been diagnosed with a rare form of non-Hodgkins lymphoma called NK-T cell lymphoma. She’s currently at KU Med beginning her fight. All profits go to help Haleigh pay medical bills.
July 9, 2019 - A Note From Haleigh
I know the suspense has been killing everyone so here it goes. June 13th I had sinus surgery to remove a growth from the left side of nose. They did pathology and it came back as NK T cell lymphoma. It’s a rare and aggressive yet very treatable blood cancer.
Today we met with oncologists at KU Med in KC. My cancer has spread to my throat, a spot on my chest, and two spots on my liver, so it’s in advanced stage. But it is NOT a death sentence. No worries peeps, I have way more than two weeks to live . The treatment involves several rounds of chemo only over the next several months, which means I’ll temporarily be living in KC. It is called SMILE. I know super ironic. It involves hospital admission for the first three to four days, then the rest is out patient. Tomorrow I will be admitted to KU Med for at least 7 days for the first treatment.
I am completely overwhelmed. If I haven’t personally told you or you haven’t heard it from my parents, be careful of the rumor mill. I’ve already heard several false things. Joys of small town living. If you have questions, message, text, call. If I don’t answer right away, I will get back to you as soon as I am up to it. And if you feel you should have been told personally, I sincerely apologize. The last two weeks have been a roller coaster of emotions. Today has been worse, tomorrow I’ll be better and ready to get up and fight.
I have an amazing support system and village and I couldn’t do this alone. I love each and everyone of you who are behind the lines supporting and praying for me and my family.
I’m very positive and optimistic about it all. I’m a fighter and going kick this cancers ass!!
