Students Need a Playground!

My name is Megan Backus.  I am a first grade teacher writing on behalf of my school, Jefferson Elementary Center.  Our goal is to provide our students with a safe and exciting place to play, learn and to engage.  Many, if not most of our students come from unstable homes where they witness and are subjected to violence, drugs and other forms of abuse.  Our school is meant to be a safe haven; a place where children feel secure and are free to explore while learning. 

Our current playground was made possible in 1993 because of generous donations and hard work.  However, over the past several years, our school playground has deteriorated at a rapid rate.  Due to the types of building materials used, weather, and age, our current playground has become unfit and unsafe for our students to play on.        
 
Donations will be used towards the purchasing of new playground equipment.  Our goal is to have a new, exciting playground for our students by next school year, so we would apprecite funds to be donated during the 2016-2017 school year. 

We hope that you can join in on this momentous project.  Providing a new playground for our students is so important .  The abillity to have a safe place to be a kid is crucial to our students' development and overall well-being.   Any support given will be highly appreciated by us and the children we service.
