Meet Paddy and Clover! These precious gals were found in the parking lot of a Family Dollar near my college campus on St. Patrick's Day. They're both super sweet and love each other a lot. While Clover seems to be in pretty good shape, Paddy has a bunch of small scars, labored breathing, and an injured leg. She won't put any weight on it and it is significantly atrophied. Both are terrified of moving cars, so it's likely that she was hit by one. We also think that she either gave birth recently or is currently pregnant, since we couldn't find any puppies nearby.
I plan to hopefully find a foster family for both of them through some rescue organizations, but I need to get them to the vet first! I spoke to a woman who runs one of the rescue groups who said she could get us a discount on the vet care, but it will still likely be about $300 for just the initial checkup and vaccinations. That doesn't include any additional care that Paddy might need for her leg. As I mentioned before, I am currently in college and $300 is a lot to come up with on such short notice, so anything that friends and family can contribute would be greatly appreciated!
I hope to get them to the vet as soon as possible so that we can get Paddy's leg checked out and find out whether or not we should be expecting a few more pups.
If you or someone you know is interested in adopting these cuties, please let me know. They are very well behaved, seem to be more or less potty trained, and do well both on leashes and in a crate. Both of these dogs are very affectionate and sometimes pretty goofy. They seem to be bonded, as Clover followed Paddy when I put a leash on her and put her in the car, and Clover tends to be somewhat protective over Paddy. Because of this, these dogs are a package deal and must be adopted together.
