St. John's Chapel Restoration

The Restoration and Healing continues with a new chapter in the life of Greg Thomas and the “little church” (St. John’s Chapel) he has been renovating.  

My wish is to help Greg with the much needed funds to complete his restoration.  Greg hopes to replace all 8 windows (estimated at a total of $8000) and to run electricity to the chapel (currently no cost estimate). 

As many of you know, over the past 7 years Greg has restored both the exterior and the interior of St. John's Chapel located in Montgomery, MN.   The original chapel, founded in 1868 by Czech settlers has been brought back to life with Greg’s meticulous attention to detail and an eye for perfection.  From the floor boards to the altar and from the pews to the fireplace, the awesome work that Greg has completed is astonishing.

 As reported recently by Kare 11 reporter Boyd Huppert, Greg’s cancer (in remission since 2011 while restoring the chapel) has returned.   You would think that Greg's biggest challenge would be overcoming his recent diagnosis, but it is not.  Greg is currently enrolled in a 2-year program to become a pastor with the hopes of preaching in the very chapel he is restoring with new windows and the lights illuminated!

I can attest to both the beauty of the chapel, and the beauty of Greg Thomas. They are both beautiful inside and out and both have a new chapter to write.
