Steve's Rehabilitation Fund

This page has been created on Steve's behalf and with his permission by friends. Steve is from Fall River in Nova Scotia, Canada. This is the first quote at the top of a list of his favourite quotes on his Facebook page:

Steve was walking home from his work in downtown Vancouver, as he did everyday, when with no warning an SUV travelling at extremely high speed lost control and collided with a tree. The tree instantly cracked and Steve was smashed by it as it fell, along with some flying debris from the crash.
He sustained major injuries including a broken pelvis, broken tibia on one leg and a broken femur on his other leg. His ribs are bruised as well as some internal bleeding. He also suffered lascerations including a severed achilles tendon and countless stitches on his body and face. His injuries required a long surgery that lasted over 9 hours. He is lucky to be alive and very grateful he survived.
Luckily his newly engaged fiance Kristy was by his side soon after in the hospital and has been every day since.
Due to the nature of Steves's work as a developer, he is a contractor and works on projects when required. As such, he does not currently have any extended health or disability benefits.
Steve needs these funds to last over the course of the next year. His complete rehabilitation and physiotherapy may take as long as two years. He will need to be in a wheelchair for quite a while and it will be difficult to get around and to work.
Steve and Kristy live in an older apartment building that is not wheelchair accessible and therefore moving expenses are another concern.

Life's a gas.
I have red hair and I'm proud of it. I do crossword puzzles in pen. I wish I could play guitar, but my ukulele skills aren't bad. I jumped off a moving train and lived to tell the tale. I love nachos. I want to pee in Niagara Falls. I wish that I had a moped, a tank of gas, and no agenda. If I were David Bowie I would be awesome. I want to drive my steam-powered Jeep to Argentina and call you from a payphone. I am going to prove the existence of Sasquatch to the world. Somethimes I wonder if Mario Kart may be the greatest thing EVER. I brew my own beer. Karaoke is more thrilling than it should be. God save the Queen.
