Sterling's Tuition Fund

Donation protected

My Name is Sterling and I am about to enter into Grad school. I am a veteran of the United States Navy, where I served as an Information Systems Technician.  The financial opportunities I received due to my service were instrumental in earning dual bachelors degrees in Information Technology and Applied Technology, as well as an added associates degree in Liberal Arts, all from Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston ID. I earned all of my degrees with honors(Latin Honors for the BAS', and Presidential Honors for the AA). I am currently employed at Lewis-Clark State, teaching computer networking, and I am raising money to allow for my masters degree in teaching, which I will ironically be earning while teaching. The money raised will go toward tuition and book costs. I've made enough financial sacrifices that I should have just about everything else covered.

I have an opportunity to turn this crowdfunding campaign into something far more meaningful than personal career goals. The program I teach for is slated to move into a brand new facility in 2020, and is very likely that when we move, we will require help purchasing equipment, supplies, and furniture for our students. For this reason, I pledge that for every dollar donated after my goal is met, half of all donations to this campaign will be used to purchase additional equipment, supplies, or other resources for my students.

Equipment needed will include laptops, desktops, micro-PCs, monitors, printers, keyboards/mice, KVM switches, routers, switches, WiFi access points, servers, desks, chairs, whiteboards, bulk ethernet cabling, fiber optic splicing/termination equipment, and network troubleshooting tools.  much of this equipment is prohibitively expensive and is usually donated by businesses after they no longer have a use for it. some of what we are currently using is as old as my incoming freshman class(yes I teach college)

If I can reach $20,000 total, I will have a banner or plaque (depending on size limitations) made with the names of everyone who contributed to this campaign which will be displayed in/near the computer lab space(unless you would like to remain anonymous). In addition, if this campaign exceeds $20,000, I will not only continue devoting half to my teaching program but additional procedes will be devoted toward desperately under-funded local school districts such as the Culdesac, Potlatch, or Lapwai School Districts to name a few.

I sincerely hope that this campaign can be used as a positive outreach program to help not-only myself and my personal goals, but to help higher education students, and K-12 students in the local rural community alike.

below is a pair of links if anyone is interested in learning a bit more about where I teach.
