As many of you have now heard, Stephanie's cancer (mantle cell lymphoma) has relapsed. The statistics were always there that she would relapse. She had hoped for many more years of being cancer free. She has been kicking cancer's butt from the day she was diagnosed and plans on putting her superhero cape back on and beating it again. But, her latest treatment is coming with a price. And money is the last thing she should have to worry about right now.
This coming Monday she will start taking an oral chemo pill called ibrutinib (aka, her magic beans). Her beloved oncologist, Tara, assures her that this one is relatively easy on the body with few annoying side effects...all of which are manageable. She also assures her that she will travel to Ireland this summer as planned to see the southern half of the island. She will continue on ibrutinib indefinitely until it fails....which we hope is many many many years from now...or never! So we are planning for many many many years of funding her magic beans for her.
If this medication fails, her medical team has a plan B lined up and ready to go. But let's stay focused on plan A for now and help Steph ease her mind, focus on herself, her family and her life.
