It is with sadness that we say what feels like a much too early farewell to Bonnie Mitchell, an amazing wife, mother, daughter, sister, cousin, friend, teacher and mentor of youth & children.   Bonnie's legacy will live on through her family and through the many lives that she has touched. We know that Bonnie is safe in the arms of Jesus, but her family will acutely feel her loss in many ways.

In addition to offering condolences and support, we wish to provide Stephen with financial assistance while he carries on Bonnie's legacy through the raising of their young children, Connor and Brayden.  The funds will be used at Stephen's discretion for various things ranging from cleaning and childcare, to enrolling the boys in activities (maybe they will become lifeguards like their mom!), or perhaps for education.  Regardless of what Stephen chooses to do with the funds raised through this campaign, we know that this will help him  give the boys the care that they need in memory of Bonnie.

For those who prefer to donate off line, we are in the process of setting up a tragedy  account at the Royal Bank, and will post details once they become available.

Thank you for your generosity; it is our hope that we greatly exceed our target and bless Stephen and his boys to the fullest extent possible.

Surreal is the word that comes to mind when I think of these past 2 weeks. There has been a dream like quality to life, wondering if perhaps the events we have been witness to are not truly happening. However, reality has settled in. The hectic busyness of planning, family and friends visiting etc. gives way to the day to day activities of the new life that Stephen and his boys must shape in the weeks, months and years ahead. Stephen's faith in God has been nothing short of remarkable; we have all witnessed what it is to see someone truly rely on God in the most difficult of times. Stephen and his boys are beginning to adjust to their changed life, and so many people have been there to support them through acts of kindness, words of encouragement and financially as well. Thank you to each of you who have been there for them.

In the past week, Stephen has met with his financial advisor and has begun to make arrangements for the best use of the funds from this campaign. As of yesterday, the funds collected to date have been transferred to Stephen. However, the campaign is not closed. We will be leaving it open for those of you who have wanted to donate, but have not yet had a chance to do so. We truly want to reach our goal of $50,000 for Connor and Brayden. We continue to see daily contributions to this fund. Now that Stephen has met with his advisor, we have established the following 3 ways that you can contribute financially to assist Stephen:
1. Donate directly to this Go Fund Me campaign.
2. If you would prefer to donate off line directly to Stephen, cheques and/or cash can be sent to Bethel Christian Assembly 440 Richmond Ave, Brandon MB. These funds will be given directly to Stephen as they come in. At this time, we request that all cheques be made directly to Stephen Mitchell. All off line donations will be recorded so that Stephen has a record of all who have so generously helped his family.
3. If you would prefer to donate to Devoted Ministries in memory of Bonnie, you can do so through their webpage, or by cheque/cash made out to Devoted Ministries and sent to Bethel Christian Assembly at 440 Richmond Ave, Brandon MB. Giving in this way would allow for a tax receipt and would assist Stephen in carrying on Bonnie's legacy through Devoted, but these funds would not go directly to Stephen, Connor and Brayden.

Once again, to those of you who have already donated, we are tremendously grateful. Please help us spread the word to reach our goal of $50,000. We are over 60% of the way there!

We continue to be amazed by the generosity of the community of people who are choosing to help Stephen and his boys. In our darkest hour, God meets our needs. Several people have indicated that the $20,000 target is low based on the actual need that Stephen will face to manage costs associated with cleaning, childcare and other expenses related to raising young children as a single parent. Based on these suggestions, we are moving our target up to $50,000. Stephen and Bonnie were well known across the Prairies, and we are confident that we can pull together to reach this goal.

Wow! We are so grateful for the fast and generous response to our campaign for Stephen, Connor & Brayden. Your generosity is already touching the family. If you have been impacted in any way by Stephen and Bonnie, please consider making a donation - every single donation counts, no matter the size. If you have already given to this or helped in another way, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Please help us spread the word about this campaign so that in upcoming years, Stephen can focus on being the father that Connor and Brayden need him to be. Single parents are stretched thin; if we can support Stephen and look after some of the things Bonnie was doing for their family, it will free Stephen to be the father that these fantastic little boys need.
