On Saturday, March 2, 2019, my long time friend, Stephany Holden, age 55, suffered a mini stroke while at work. While at the hospital an MRI of her brain was done. Unrelated to the stroke, doctors found a 7mm brain aneurysm. She will be seeing a Neurologist on March 19th to determine the course of action for the aneurysm. Some treatment options are surgery, medications and lifestyle changes.
Thankfully, Stephany has recovered her ability to speak clearly which was temporarily affected by the mini stroke. She is able to recall the date and year, which at first was difficult for her to do. The doctors have put her on many new medications to try to prevent any further strokes. This has been an extremely terrifying experience in many ways.
Stephany is a single woman, who is solely responsible for all of her bills. Not to mention that she financially supports some of her grandchildren. She missed 3 days of work while in the hospital and will be out of work for the minimum of the next week. After seeing the Neurologist, and getting a treatment plan for the brain aneurysm, she could miss quite a lot more work. Stephany is a table game dealer at a local casino. The majority of her income comes from tips. For her, missing any work, means falling behind, fast! For the foreseeable future, she will be facing trips back and forth to doctor's appointments which will be expensive relying on public transportation as Stephany does not own a vehicle.
I am starting this Go Fund Me in order to take some of the stress off of Stephany; Stress that the Doctor's told her is extremely dangerous for her right now. She is a worrier...she will worry herself to death over her unpaid bills, especially her rent. Please, if you are able to help her in any way, please, do. If you can't help financially, perhaps offering a ride to the doctor, or to pick up medicine from the pharmacy. Even, to organize a meal train...AND, first and foremost, PRAYER! Thank you
