My name is Kevin Daniels. I was a volunteer firefighter/emt with South Boston Fire Dept when on 08-07-98 I was involved in a serious one car wreck while responding to a call at night. My rehab and recovery was slow after my wreck due to a head injury leaving me unable to communicate at all and unable to even walk. I had to get a baclofen pump put in under the skin to give baclofen through a catheter to my spine to control my spasms and clonis. I started off at 1000 micrograms every day.
Therapy since wreck:
In 2000 I went to Lauderdale by the sea to get hyperbaric oxygen treatments.results were minimal.
In 2006 after researching on the internet and having my Fire Dept. help raise money,I went to Tijuana Mexico to get umbilical cord blood stem cells. I got just under 10 million cells.placed in blood stream near the brainstem. After coming back i have since reduced my pump down to just under 400. I'm able to stand easier for transfer an Ive regain some of my speaking ability.
In 2008 i raised and went back a second time to get more stem cells. Since this time my pump has been reduced down to just 40 micrograms a day. I've seen alot of promise from stem cells to treat/cure my TBI, but funding is hampering my efforts to achieve this.

If I can get another treatment I may very well take steps again. The place I set this up to be done in Tijuana Mexico is www.stemcellmd.org. I can realize this if i got $15,000. Any more and I can get even more stem cell when I go. The more the better.
My body functions are about regular now.I'm able to go an do things and have somewhat of a social life doing fire department things. I'm no longer active. I'm classified as an associate member.
I'm not only wanting to do this to improve my life. But after I see the results I'm counting on I plan on getting this known so it'll help some of our many wonderful soldiers returning or already here at home who have a head injury.
I also want to return to serving my community by helping the many citizens who reside here by returning in some capacity as a EMT/firefighter again.The thing I loved doing prior to my accident.
I appreciate any and all help you can give. Please find it in your heart to help me realize my dream of walking again. And God bless you for your selfless donation. I would greatly love the opportunity to get back on my feet again and free myself from my wheelchair. And to have this help our many wondrful soldiers living with a brain injury.But most of all, I want to be able to care for myself again.
