I''v e had Multiple Sclerosis since 2004. It has been in Relapsing-Remitting for many years, two years ago, I started to get worse at a faster rate. I am moving into Secondary Progressive, which means I will only get worse from now on. A few weeks ago, I was hospitalized because I couldn't walk. or get out of bed. The results of my MRI was 50-50 whether they could help me or not, because they found a flare up on one of my lesions, they were able to treat me with steroid infusions. If it weren't for the flare up, there wouldn't have been anything else they could have done for me. I can't run that risk again. Stem Cell Treatment is my only option for to stop it's progression , reverse its progression and maybe even cure me. Why does it cost so much? Because in the US, it is not covered by insurance because it is not FDA approved. The only place I have found it offered so far is in Chicago and that is what they are charging. I am still investigating other countries, but travel expenses will have to be considered also. Please help save my life from the devastation of MS, I am only 55.
I am a grandma now & cannot even pick up my grandson & walk with him. He's going to start walking soon & I don't want his only memories of me to be that of me being in a wheelchair and or worse yet, of me dying before he has any memories of me at all. I am already using my wheelchair part of the time, having difficulty showering & dressing . Eating & writing has become a real challenge for me (I am right handed and am losing function on my right side). Swallowing & speaking are sometimes giving me problems. I walk (sometimes) with a cane & maybe soon with a walker. I have already lost my ability to dance, run, swim & ride a bicycle. My life feels as if it spiraling down the drain and my life vest is barely keeping my head above water.
