Hello friends of STEAM education!
Thank you for visiting our campaign! We are the STEAM Maker Workshop, and our mission is to support education by providing highly engaging STEAM education solutions to elevate the effectiveness of learning.
In consulting with many schools, most seek procuring a laser cutter in an effort to put the power of this equipment in the hands of educators and return the physical manufacturing component of the engineering design process to enhance the student learning experience.
Because a laser cutter can run into the tens of thousands of dollars, it is simply too cost prohibitive for many schools to purchase on their own.
We are seeking community support to provide a dedicated laser lab for educators, where both students and teachers can benefit from having all the capabilities of an industrial laser cutter without exorbitant costs, maintenance, or safety concerns for the school.
Designing this program and running the facility is not without cost and we need your help. Implementing laser technology in school is more than just about understanding how to use the latest tools, but in making this technology applicable to the educational environment.
Your support of this program will allow us to hire the educational professionals to assist with the educational components, graphic artists to help with design and program development and technicians to run the educational projects.
While contributions of all levels are needed, every donation of $500 provides a teacher of your choosing (or one who has signed up on our wish list) and who’s school resides within 25 miles of The City of San Diego:
- One full school year access to the STEAM Laser Program,
- A full day of training on both computer based and traditional modeling techniques necessary to facilitate student designs,
- A complete NGSS based curriculum integration package to implement in the classroom,
- An initial Twenty 22” x 30” foam core boards for student and/or teacher designs to be cut using the laser cutter at the STEAM Maker Workshop.
Future lessons taught back in the classroom can be uploaded to STEAM Maker's server for production, and for a very low cost, have those files cut on the material of their choice and delivered to the school within 2 business days. The parts and an Mp4 video of student creations being laser cut can then be provided to students so they can assemble and complete their project with their hands.
With your help, the STEAM Laser Program can empower educators with a remarkable opportunity to enhance their curriculum and provide truly transformative next level education while bringing modern teaching techniques to their students that integrate engineering processes and develop 21st century skills.
Lessons this equipment can enhance are truly limitless!
