Over the past year my mother has had numerous stomach issues. It all got worse when she woke up one morning in the worst pain she had ever felt. After months of multiple doctor visits (gastrointestinal, vascular, liver cancer specialists included), MRI, CT scans, hydra scans, ultrasounds, insane amounts of blood tests, scopes, and numerous “I don’t know what’s going on - let me send you to a different specialist” she was not able to eat, none of the medicine was working, and loosing a lot of weight.
A few more months later she finally found a doctor that gave her a glimpse of hope. He told her that she had stomach ulcers after one of her scopes. But still, after all the medicine for the ulcers, she could not eat and was still in incredible pain. My mom tried removing certain food from her diet, having more blood tests and scans done and even seeing more doctors.
One of the doctor visits later and they decided to to remove her gall bladder - and things seem to be looking up!
They will monitor her over the next year and continue having tests done. She has a appointment soon for another scope to check on the ulcers. And there is currently a small mass on her liver they are keeping a eye on. (tests came back negative for cancer - thank the Lord) But we are extremely thankful that there seems to be some light at the end of the tunnel. My mom is one hell of a fighter! So now I want to do what I can for her.
After all of this, there are of course those doctor bills that follow. My mother would never ask for help. She would give her last dollar to someone in need. But my sister and I would love to help her so we decided to set up this GoFundMe in secret! My parents do not have social media so we figured we could keep this secret from her. So after all that she has been through if we can help lighten the burden, we want to try!!
