St. Ann Cath School Raise the Roof

St. Ann Catholic School is a private school located in Bartlett, Tennessee, just outside of Memphis. The school was founded in 1960 and our building is in desperate need of some upgrades. We need to replace our roof and HVAC system to keep the building maintenance in proper condition. Our overall HVAC and Roof project will cost $500,000 over the next 3-5 years. Our first and most dire sections will cost a total of $180,000. We have received a $70,000 grant amount from a private Charitable Trust to begin this project.
While we are a private, Catholic learning institution, we serve students from diverse religious and ethnic populations. Most of our families work two plus jobs to afford to send their children to our school. The often overlooked, working-middle class is where we find most of our parents. They make many sacrifices to make ends meet and many receive financial assistance. The average family requesting financial aid is headed by a single parent, has 2 children in school and has a yearly income of $35,000. With only $40,000 in funds available from the budget and requests for aid that totaled over $135,000, we are faced with the difficult task of equitably distributing the funds. This current school year we awarded over $60,000 in financial aid to about 35 families.
Part of the St. Ann Parish, the school’s mission is to facilitate strong academic development, and to nurture a lifelong commitment to Christ and the teachings of the Catholic Church in a way that promotes the spiritual and education growth of each student, so that all students become responsible, productive and faith-filled citizens.
St. Ann Catholic School opened its doors and 1960 and has seen many changes over the years, especially in the past several years. As the landscape and competition of education continues to change, so must we continue to adapt to meet the needs of our students. St. Ann prides itself on educating the entire student, including the spiritual aspect. Here are some of the changes we have implemented over the past three years.
· The introduction of the STREAM (Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Arts, Math) designation.
· Implementation of phase one of our one-to-one technology program.
· Complete renovation and upgrade of our middle school science lab.
· Creation of a state-of-the-art Innovation Lab including 3D printer and pens.
· Implemented Easy CBM program to monitor student learning and help students achieve success.
· Utilizing the IXL technology program to enhance reading and math in the classroom.
· Began LATIN program to boost student vocabulary.
· Enhanced teacher training with national conferences and highly qualified instructors.
In order to continue our positive growth and to remain among the top Catholic schools in the greater Memphis area, we need your help! We need to raise needed unrestricted funds to strengthen our existing programs and provide new, innovative opportunities for our students. Tuition only covers 80% of the income necessary to run our school. We need strong St. Ann supporters like you to help strengthen and grow St. Ann School year after year into the future.
