Medical Recovery For Flip

On the night of Aug 2, 2019 Jimmy (Flip) Lewis suffered a brain injury from Relapsing Remitting Multiple Sclerosis (RRMS) and was admitted into the hospital. The attack on his brain left him paralyzed in his right arm and hand. After 5 days of steroid treatments, there was no sign of improvement. Just before transport to an inpatient rehab facility he was denied admittance due to the medication he takes for MS. With no options left, Flip was sent home to begin outpatient physical and occupational therapy (OT/PT). Neurologists have commented that Flip can make meaningful progress and potentially regain mobility during physical and occupational therapy. This may take months or even years, but Flip is completely determined to get back on his feet. Recommended Treatment -Occupational and physical therapy -Admission to hospital for a monthly infusion of tysabrl. More Details Since Being Released From Hospital Flip has started outpatient OT/PT. Flip has started to see some slight improvement and things are looking hopeful. Along with OT/PT, home health aides are visiting 3 times a week to help with basic tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and helping with bathing/hygiene. Doctor’s Words: “You are in for the long haul and have a lot of work ahead of you. Stay positive, work hard at rehabilitation and fight the good fight.” Where Will the Money Go: Our goal is to raise $1,500 to help Flip with the following. -Costs for PT/OT (72 visits) cost not covered by insurance (co-pay) -Any other out of pocket expenses that may occur during rehab.
