Update (12/06/2016): The pipeline construction has been stopped for now--such a huge victory for humanity! But we have just received word that medical support is still urgently needed, so we will still be headed there this Thursday as planned. But, we are celebrating right now. Dr. Hannah Mclane and Nathanael Totushek are heading to Standing Rock to provide medical support and would love your help!
There is only ONE physician currently signed up to run the medical tent in the Standing Rock camp the weekend of December 9th to the 11th.
SO, due to this emergency need for more medical personnel and support, we will be travelling to Standing Rock from December 8-12th to help.
What will we do? Well, Hannah (aka Dr. McLane) will be helping people who need medical attention, and meanwhile Nate (aka 'Reliable Nate') will be doing supply runs and providing assistance in whatever way possible.
We will be renting an SUV or minivan while there in order to conduct supply / water runs and provide rides to and from the hospital for anyone who is injured (but not injured severely enough to require an ambulance, of course).
Finally, we hope to film the experience in order to add to the effort to show the world exactly what is going on from the ground.
We are aiming for $2000 to help get us there. Our cost estimate breaks down as follows:
Airfare ($850)
SUV or van rental ($350)
Gas ($200)
Portable camera ($300)
As well as any food, water, and medical supplies that may be needed ($300).
Any additional or unused funds we receive will be donated directly to the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, the Oceti Sakowin Camp, and used to to buy additional medical supplies.
