I met Georgia the first week of our freshman year in high school, and she has been one of my best friends ever since. She is the kindest, most selfless person I have ever met. When we were sophomores in high school, Georgia was diagnosed with a spinal stroke at just 16 years old. With determination, perseverance and grace, Georgia has had to overcome more obstacles on a daily basis than many of us will in a lifetime. Today, she is a single mom of triplets and a professional architect who works to promote a more handicap-accessible world.
Georgia has many amazing attributes but there is one thing about her that stands out amongst the rest and that is her ability to stay positive and humble each and every day in a world not built for a paraplegic. As someone who lived with Georgia for four years in college, I know how challenging life can be for her. Simple things that we take for granted are huge inconveniences for her. Although you will never hear her complain, I have always dreamed about the day when modern medicine would develop something to make her life easier. And, now there is a machine that will allow her to stand up and move more easily.
The Tek Robotic Mobilization Device is not a wheelchair alternative, but a brand new mobility platform that completely reimagines the way individuals with paraplegia and other walking disabilities are able to move in the world. The ability to independently and safely sit, stand, and navigate environments that were once inaccessible, is now possible, safe, and available. Georgia had the opportunity to try it out, thanks to a friend of hers who is also a paraplegic. Check out how amazing this machine is - http://www.matiarobotics.com !!!
