Hello everyone! My name is Stacey and I'm going to tell you the story of how my life changed forever.
In October and into early November I started experiencing severe migraines. About 2 weeks into November I had one of these migraines and I noticed numbness in my hand on my way home from work. It started in my thumb and gradually started in my middle finger. Thinking it was probably a pinched nerve from sleeping funny I dismissed it. The next morning my entire hand had gone numb. At this point I started to get a little nervous but tried to stay positive. Later that night my face had also gone numb near my ear and across to my nose. I was advised to go to the emergency room and at the emergency room they told me it was nothing and to go home and relax. This continued for the next few days. More parts of my body losing feeling until the entire right side of my body was completely numb. Painfully numb. I had been to the ER five times with no answers. I couldn't drive. I couldn't spend quality time with my kids or husband. I couldn't even stay awake. On thanksgiving I spent the day curled up in a ball on my couch sleeping while my whole family ate dinner and visited each other. After the holiday I got my primary physician to order an MRI. My MRI revealed that I was suffering from relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis. Multiple sclerosis is a disease which attacks the nervous system and leaves lesions on the brain. This disease is degenerative and can cause many other complications including but not limited to decreased mobility, loss of speech, blindness, and so the list goes on. This is not an option for me. I am a mother to two wonderful energetic kids, and two equally intense step children. I don't want to miss out on all the good stuff. I have a wonderfully supportive husband who has been amazing through all of this.
The reason I am starting this fund raiser is to raise money to get an experimental stem cell treatment through Stemgenex. What they will do is remove my stem cells from my fat and wake them up and then reintroduce them into my body. The results can be miraculous. Stem cell therapy may stop the MS in its tracks. I want to get this therapy because I don't want to miss out on my kids. I don't want to miss out on my husband. This stem cell therapy may help me. This therapy may halt the progression of this disease. I may not need expensive medications anymore. I may be able to live for many many years and maybe even for the rest of my life without another exacerbation. The funds collected would be paid out directly to the facility doing the treatment.
