Stabbed Victim & Hero

This is my sister's boyfriend Alex. He is a true hero and I am for ever grateful for him. On March 18th around 2:20 a.m. my 2 sisters and 3 cousins were leaving club Vynal. They went across the street to get some tacos. While waiting for their food there was a group of 5-7 people who were clearly intoxicated and they began to instigate and harass my family. The situation escalated quickly and they began beating on my sisters and cousins. While this was happening Alex, my sister's boyfriend, was driving to pick up my family and as he pulled up to Torchys Tacos parking lot he saw the men beating on my family. He immediately got out of his car and ran to help get them off of my sister's and cousins. During the scuffle one of the guys stabbed Alex 2 times, once on his left side rib cage area and the other on his left shoulder. While this was happening the police came and they captured 2 out of the 6 or 7 people who were part of this horrific incident. Alex was transported to Denver Health. The stab wound on his rib cage area is 3 inches deep and the one on his shoulder is about 2 inches or so deep. The doctor's say that if the knife would have been a few centimeters more in that his lung would have been punctured. We thank God that, that was not the case. It will take time for him to recover but so far he is doing well. One of my sister's has a minor concussion and my other sister has bruises on her back and a sore neck, my cousins as well have similar bruises and scratches on their bodies as well.  My family and I are so grateful and appreciative for him for having the courage and bravery to defend and protect the best to his abilities our family members. We are all shaken up by this traumatic experience. With that we are trying our best to help cover medical costs, and loss wages. Unfortunately he is fairly new to his job and benefits are not available to him yet. So he has no paid time off from work nor does he have health insurance.
