To our fellow islanders and island lovers.

After hurricane Irma destroyed much of the St. John Lumberyard complex one year ago, the St. John Water & Ice Company took a beating.  Until recently, however, we have been able to operate the business on a shoestring with a modified staff for the past 11 months.

Two months ago, mid August 2018, the owners of the Lumberyard complex mandated we cease all operations immediately so that demolition could begin.  Click to find the The St. John Source article , the The St. John Tradewinds  and The Virgin Islands Daily News articles.

Determined to continue to provide fresh water and ice to our community, we have been working out of a small truck in a parking lot primarily serving our contractor businesses.  However, this is not sustainable.  I realize that, as much as it pains me to do so, it is time to ask for help.   For those that know me, this is an extremely uncomfortable position, as I would much rather help than burden others.

I take great pride in what we offer St. John.  Not only do we provide water and ice:
-  we provide first job experiences for young men in our community, through which we build confidence, work skills and personal ethics.
-  we reduce plastics and consumer waste by refilling reusable containers.
-  we donate much of our earnings to the non-profit community in time of need.

This GoFundMe effort represents our most URGENT financial goal.  Immediate community funding will allow us to power an interim business within two modified shipping containers near the Lumberyard complex and once again provide water and ice to the greater community.  Therefore, I humbly request your assistance.  Any amount is greatly appreciated.

Note: the GoFundMe suggested “tip” is not a donation.  If you wish to avoid this,  select “Other” and amount “$0”.

After 1 month we have collectively raised $10k however our campaign has lost momentum at this point. The good news is that Alan has the space commitment from The Lumberyard and is actively looking for materials. If you have a minute, please share this campaign with friends and family. With your help we will see St. John Ice & Water up and running by end of year.

Well done island lovers! After three weeks we have raised almost $10,000 with 97 donations and 500 shares! We are at 38% of our goal however donations have waned the past few days. At this point we are asking all of you/us that donated and shared to reach out once AGAIN to friends and family to get us over the finish line by Thanksgiving. This means an additional $15,000 in the three weeks we have left or $5,000 per week staring now. If each of us can bring in another $150 we easily accomplish this. The Lumberyard owners have already committed to provide the space. So let's bring it on home, team!

Fantastic St. John community effort. We have raised almost $8,000 (or 33% of our goal) in 15 days! Please continue to help promote this campaign so we can claim victory by Thanks "giving"! Wouldn't that be appropriate. A big island hug for your help this far.

Dear donors and followers, let our voices be heard tonight! Governor Kenneth Mapp and Lieutenant Governor Osbert Potter said they are inviting and encouraging St. John residents to share their ideas, concerns and hear from local officials in regard to recovery efforts and other matters affecting the island at a Town Hall meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Julius Sprauve School on Tuesday, October 23, 2018.
