Soccer Shots Philly Scholarship Fund

$1,620 of $3,000 goal

Raised by 10 people in 41 months
Soccer Shots is the children's soccer experience for ages 2-8. Through soccer instruction, we focus on positively impacting children’s lives and the communities we serve.

Why Does Soccer Shots Philly need a Scholarship Fund?

Soccer Shots Philly established this scholarship fund in 2015 to provide assistance and fair share opportunity for families requesting financial assistance to participate in our programs.  In the past, we have contributed over $3000 per year to support requests for scholarships and low-income school partnerships, but we need more support to keep up with our goals to reach every kind of kid in the city with a great soccer experience. We also will contribute 25% of your support to Soccer Shots Global Goals (detailed below).

Twenty-eight percent (28%) of Philadelphians including 39% (~135,000) of our children live below the federal poverty level. Another 30-40% of Philadelphians live within 2 times the poverty level.  This means over 60% of our Philadephia neighbors do not have the means to pay for their children to join an extra-curricular program like Soccer Shots.

To continue to address this need and offer Soccer Shots to children throughout the city, we need your financial support so that we can continue to say "yes" to all families who ask to participate in our programs.

Our goal for 2016 is $2100

This is:

30 families receiving a scholarship for 60% off of their child's registration (or)

7 one day events with low cost schools serving children in low-income areas  (or)

3 low cost schools providing a full season to each of their children once a week for 8 weeks (or)

A combination of the three options above.

Soccer Shots and Global Goals:

Soccer is a powerful tool to positively affect children's lives. Through our partnership, we will contribute 25% of the money we raise to Global Goals that works
with the U.S. Soccer Foundation to contribute to undeserved communities and children throughout the U.S. and around the world.  We believe it is important to make both a local and a global impact on serving children through the game of soccer.

So far this summer, we have issued 4 scholarships out of 9 offered to our West Philly partners for our program at Cedar Park. All scholarship funds that go unused for the summer will role into our fall season campaign. We have already honored one request for fall and have 3 others pending.
