Growing up in a small town, being a positive role model has always been important to me. From being a teacher’s assistant in a kindergarten classroom to cheerleading at football and basketball games and being name Colfax Junior Miss 2008 I was quickly made aware of my impact on younger generations by the number of elementary and junior high children that would come up and talk to me, knowing me by name even when I didn’t know theirs. Even when I left the ‘public eye’ of Colfax and went off to college I have always tried to be the kind of young woman I would want these young girls to look up to. The last few years serving as choreographer and co-chair of the Colfax Distinguished Young Women’s Program, formerly Junior Miss, I have had the incredible opportunity to serve as a role model and mentor for girls in the program.
I have decided to hold myself to a higher standard and become a role model on a larger scale, by competing in the Miss Idaho USA program. I will be active in my local community, representing Moscow and Latah County. I will be putting on events promoting healthy living and empowering women through dress. The Miss USA program, owned by NBC Universal, is a network made up of individuals in the beauty and entertainment industry. It promotes education, strong moral character, healthy living, and confidence in one’s self. This program is a great opportunity not only for my personal growth but also for networking within the industry. As many of you know, I would love to work as a stylist within the entertainment industry and this is a great opportunity for me to experience the other side of the lens.
I believe my background with the distinguished young women’s program, modeling, fashion, and fitness have prepared me for this new journey. The program requires a $995 sponsorship fee which goes towards my living expenses at the program. Throughout every stage in life I have been continually blessed by the amount of support I have received from my family, friends, and community. I hope you will support me on this next adventure through any means, positive thoughts and prayers or financially if you feel called to do so.
