My name is Peter Scott, I am the principal and also a teacher at Spring Terrace Public School. A small school of 34 students close to Orange, NSW Australia.
I am running in the Orange Running Festival Marathon on Sunday 3rd March to raise money for our school and to show my students that we all need to be brave and take on challenges, despite our fear of failure.
I want to do my part to help the community raise funds to close in the southern side of our new covered outdoor area. This will give our students a great space to eat and play outside, during winter.
I often talk to my students about having a 'growth mindset' and encourage them to see difficult and uncomfortable things as challenges that are an opportunity to improve and grow.
This is certainly a challenge for me as I have never run a marathon before and only started training on Boxing Day 2018.
