Spread Love for Terri Hopkins

Spread Love...
Two easy words, but something we don't seem to do enough in a world that is so full of hate.  Today, I read an update from our dear friend Terri that literally broke my heart - shattered.  Anyone who knows Terri knows how special she truly is.  She is a beautiful soul and such a rarity.  I met Terri via Nextdoor two years ago.  I posted free wood, as I was blessed with cherry tree that had been cut down, but we had no way to split it and had just started our BBQ business.  Terri, who had just gotten a new splitter, wanted the wood to try out her new toy.  I was baffled when I got home to see a huge pile of freshly split wood along our driveway that evening.  When Terri learned we had a BBQ business, she knew we needed the wood and she was in a position to help, so she blessed us.  She's never stopped blessing us since we met and I'm sure you all have experienced similiar encounters with Terri.  She is so positive, so full of love and life, and would do anything for anyone.  It's second nature to her.

Now, its OUR turn to help Terri.  She has been battling cancer for two years and is one of the strongest people I know.  Through it all, she's found solace in caring for her three dogs, cooking for others, tending to her garden and learning that she'll soon be a grandmother.  She's worked the entire time and has done it all with dignity, despite being dealt an unfair cancer diagnosis and being left with over 200K in medical debt as she fights for her life.

Today, many of us learned that Terri's car was repossed while she was at work. If that wasn't bad enough, we learned she wasn't notified when it happend and was actually ridiculed by onlookers who let her search for her vehicle during her lunch break.  This would be devastating for anyone, but especially for someone who has struggled so much, doesn't expect any help, and is doing her very best to make ends meet.  Let's face it, 70% of Americans are financially stressed, but we can do something to help in this case and Terri needs us.  She was vulnerable for sharing what she did and I know it's not easy.  Asking for help never is and Terri doesn't, but shame on me (and us) for not stepping in sooner.

Today, I ask that we all rally around Terri the way she is constantly rallying around us, with a smile on her face, despite any obstacles in the background.  Every amount makes a difference and is an investment to helping our friend get back on her feet and most importantly, showing her that she is LOVED.
