Sponge kidney disease

Donation protected
Hi my name is Madison Kight. I’m 15 years old and a sophomore in highschool. I am writing this letter from lying in a hospital bed again. Last year I was diagnosed with Medullary Sponge Kidneys. It’s been a rough year since. Medullary Sponge Kidneys is a disease where your kidneys have holes in them that have a spongy look to them. I always have chronic Pylonephritis and Urinary Tract Infections. We have to monitor this constantly because this can turn into Urosepsis that causes the infection to get in my blood stream which is life threatening. This causes me to be hospitalized multiple times up to 5-6 days. It has required me to travel to see multiple different doctors from all over.

My parents have no idea that I’m starting this. I’m doing this because being the amazing parents they are they pay for all of my medical bills and never ask for a thing from me. My mom has got a second job Recently and working till midnight just to help pay off the medical bills. My mom and my stepdad have done all they can to help me and believing in me and taking me everywhere I need to go to get help and it’s time for me to start helping. I feel horrible going to school and having to call my mom almost everyday to come and get me and leave her job and I’m so grateful that she has a amazing job that lets her do this for me. My parents can only do so much to help me. I know my medical bills are way higher then my goal is but anything helps.
