Specialist wheelchair for Ben Iles

Donation protected
On Friday 8th of June the KPMG Tax Centre of Excellence (TCOE) teams are hoping to raise some funds to help one of our own.

Ben Iles works in KPMG's Cambridge office and is part of the TCOE team in Birmingham.  Ben is an Assistant Manager who has been with KPMG since graduating from University.

Ben relies on a specialist wheelchair to enable him to carry out his role at KPMG.  In recent months his ageing wheelchair has started to break down and it is now at the point of requiring replacement.  Unfortunately the cost of these wheelchairs is not cheap – in fact the wheelchair that Ben requires costs in excess of £32k.

Ben has worked hard to secure government funding for the wheelchair and has had his recent application granted (after several months of uncertainty).  Unfortunately the grant does not cover the total cost of the wheelchair.  KPMG, as Ben’s employer, will make a contribution and the cost is covered in part by the NHS, however this still leaves a significant amount which Ben has to fund himself.

The teams are hoping to help Ben to cover this shortfall by doing a variation of the popular National 3 Peaks Challenge in order to raise funds.  In summary, the three TCOE teams will climb the three highest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales simultaneously on Friday 8 June 2018 aiming to reach the respective summits at around 14:00, when Ben will take the train up to the summit of Snowdon.
