My name is Jenny Banai. I am a Vancouver indie artist who has released but one album, Flowering Head. It's been a long time coming- this second album of mine.. and I am grateful for the unnerving amount of encouragement and patience I have received from you, and you, and YOU!
It's sometimes hard for me to trust this art form, its presentation, and the mechanics used to compress sounds and words. I always wonder- will an album carry the initial meaning and spirit I intended and felt? But I try to trust, I am humbled by the gravity of my responsibility as a creator, and I am thankful. I don't always feel brave. Often I question. But here I am, still doing the thing I set out to do! Thank you for waiting and thank you for listening. I am truly excited to show you Couch Walker!
I have had the immense privilege of working alongside a creative genius, my friend and bandmate, and artist himself, Scott Currie on the production of Couch Walker and I'm happy to say that it speaks 'Jenny' in the most Jenny-way possible, to date. We recorded at Afterlife Studios (the old Mushroom Studios) with the best of the best engineer Vancouver has to offer, John Raham (Destroyer, Frazey Ford, Dan Mangan, We are the City, etc). Very grateful indeed!
All that to say, I was honoured with the Fraser Valley Music Awards, Folk Artist of the Year.. this year! I was presented with funding to cover a limited edition of the first vinyl pressing of Couch Walker. And so.. as the story of an artist goes, I need a little financial help to finish and ready the album for pressing. In exchange for your thoughtful donation, I'm letting you in on said first edition (signed and delivered via mail or face-to-face) and a guest list spot at the Couch Walker vinyl release party!
