South Pinellas Autism Project

The South Pinellas Autism Project serves children affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Presently, South Pinellas lacks comprehensive services for people with Autism (and their families), especially compared to other urban areas in the Tampa Bay region.

The South Pinellas Autism Project is seeking to raise $6,000 before April 30, 2016, to file corporate papers, apply for 501(C)3 status and develop a marketing program.

Other initial services will include social and educational events, sports for kids affected by ASD, and developing a universe of potential partners and stakeholders.

Our goals are to:

• IDENTIFY — What is Autism Spectrum Disorder? Who is affected by Autism? What services and support do they need? Develop a plan for bringing services to South Pinellas.

• ADAPT — Help those affected by Autism (and the community as a whole) to discover ways to challenge Autistic kids and eliminate barriers to their success.

• ADVOCATE — Make sense of the patchwork of insurance, therapies, education, laws and other resources. Become a champion for people with Autism, so they can thrive and contribute to the community.

The South Pinellas Autism Project was launched by parents of an Autistic child. We understand the struggle of getting a child diagnosed, funding his or her therapy and care, dealing the the added pressure of raising an Autistic child, and helping him or her achieve an extraordinary life despite the challenges of being on the Autism Spectrum.

South Pinellas County includes the cities of St. Petersburg, Gulfport, Pinellas Park, Seminole, Redington Beach, Redington Shores, St. Pete Beach, South Pasadena, Madeira Beach, Treasure Island and Kenneth City. We also serve Lealman and unincorporated areas south of Ulmerton Road.
