Empower Women at Kahawa West Slum!

We're raising money to empower the humans of the Kahawa West slum in Nairobi, Kenya! Let's build a space for the Soweto Youth Iniative to put the women and children in a position where they can succeed, Together We Move!
The Kahawa West Slum is located in Nairobi, Kenya. It's a 10 acre unincorporated piece of land with 10,000 people and 3 toilet facilities. The Soweto Youth Iniative is a local nonprofit in the Nairobi slum which was started and is run by youth who live in the slum. Their main objective is to support the kids who often have turbulent home lives mostly due to lack of resources. One of the main projects the Soweto Youth Iniative supports is providing sanitary napkins to girls so they can attend school all 4 weeks each month. Otherwise a week is missed because there is no money to cope with what nature has bestowed. And they need our help!! They want to build a space where they can further support the women, specifically single mothers who have unreliable sources of income. Sewing is a major trade in Africa and the development of a program to help women undertake this trade would substantially improve their quality of life.
It's safe to say that those of us born in first world countries got lucky. Had the universe shifted just a fraction and our cells multiplied say a continent away, this could easily be any one of us. That's all there is to it. It doesn't matter if we reach our goal by 7,000 people donating $1 or 70 donating $100. If you feel compelled in any way there will be many steps to this process from fundraising to long term sustainabilty conversations. All is possible, it will just take time, dedication, love and persistence. Please donate if you can!
