Sophie the Dog's ACL Surgery

Donation protected
This is dear, sweet Sophie.

Sophie has not had the easiest of lives.

A few summers ago, Sophie and two of her littermates were found in a ditch off the side of I-40, between Chapel Hill and Durham, in North Carolina. They were just a few weeks old. They had been badly beaten and left for dead. One had died; Sophie and one of her sisters were alive. Barely alive, but alive.

The woman who found the pups took them to the vet, and then to her house, and nursed them back to health. But, already having a handful of dogs of her own, she could only keep one.

Sophie eventually made her way to us.

And we've done our best. We try. We love Sophie very much. And Sophie loves us.  (Oh, does Sophie love us. The sandpaper quality of her tongue -- better than a microderm abrasion facial treatment. But I digress..,)

But accidents happen. Injuries occur. Veterinarians are visited, far too often, and I'd like to think their wonderful (seriously, truly wonderful) staffs get much of their holiday bonuses through our payments.

This time, though, it was a big injury. Sophie, poor Sophie, tore one of her anterior cruciate ligaments.  Surgery is required. Sophie will be fine -- if a brute bashing her over the head repeatedly didn't stop her, neither will this.

This GoFundMe is to help defray the cost of sweet Sophie's surgery.
