Something Pretty for the Warriors - my Mom said that when you get admitted to the hospital they give you all of this "ugly" stuff: UGLY yellow non-slip socks, UGLY hospital gowns, UGLY scars and multiple UGLY bracelets identifying you and what is wrong with you. I listened to her explain what each of her own ugly bracelets were for and an idea was born. What if we could give cancer patients something PRETTY? Something that reminded them of hope, love, kindness, strength - and most of all that they aren't fighting alone. And what if we could donate to cancer research at the same time? Last year we raised over $800 for Research and gave over 40 bracelets to cancer patients and their nurses at Torrance Memorial Hospital in California where my Mother was being treated.
This summer my Mother lost her 2 year war with Cancer. She won the 1st battle with Lymphoma; she won the 2nd battle with Breast Cancer; but when the Lymphoma came back it was just too fast and too strong. It would have been my Mom's 74th birthday later this month, I still can't believe that she is gone.
In her honor I am trying to donate over $2000 to Research and over 100 bracelets to patients. Those of you that know my Mom, you know that she was ALWAYS giving to others, it was never about her. And you know that she was ALWAYS put together down the smallest details of her jewelry, much of which she made herself. I am not that crafty, but I am all about carrying on my Mother's legacy of giving to others. So how do I do that?
I am hosting a KEEP Collective party - think modern day charm bracelets. All of the sponsored bracelets will be purchased through that party and ALL of my profit (25%) will be donated to the University of Virginia Health Foundation.

The National Cancer Institute estimates that there are over 15 Million people in the US living with some type of cancer. And it is estimated that roughly 600, 000 people die from cancer each year. Thankfully that number is down, from 1991-2015 the cancer death rate has dropped over 26%. We need to keep driving that number down, and we can do that through funding cancer research. Please help me raise the spirits of our Warriors and raise funds for the research necessary to help find a cure. The survivors and the victims aren't just numbers they are our friends, our neighbors, our co-workers, our family, our brothers, our sisters, our Fathers and our Mothers. Thank you for your donation.
