SolaNoir: Street Art & Eclipse Fest
On August 21st, 2017 - the Moon shall pass before the Sun in a rare and awe-inspiring Solar Eclipse. The moon's shadow will begin in Oregon and cut across the United States, through Kansas City and St. Joseph, MO and will end in Florida. An eclipse path across the US like this hasn't happened since before the Declaration of Independence...
SolaNoir is an event that will celebrate this rare celestial event. We seek to memorialize this cosmic coincidence within our community, creating murals, events, and memorabilia to cherish our creative potentials and collaborate like never before.
This campaign for SolaNoir will enable street artists from across the United States, some even from across seas, to come to the hub of the solar eclipse, Kansas City and more specifically the KC Crossroads Arts Disctrict, to help memorialize this moment in time with an artform that can be just as fleeting and powerful. This campaign will also allow another group of film and video artists to collaborate with the painters to create a documentary that captures the artists' days leading up the grand event and of course the celebration that will ensue.
We have outlined Donor and Sponsorship Levels on our website www.solanoir.com. Within each level are detailed listings of what your sponsorphip and patronage will offer you in return for your support.
Funding will be directly used to pay for plane tickets and other travel expenses, paint materials and equipment such as lifts, some lodging and other accomodations, as well as food, water and of course coffee, lots and lots of coffee.
The majority of participating artists and videographers are waving their personal artist fees for the act of painting/filming/producing for the greater goal of this event and the community. If we raise more donations than our initial costs then the rest will go to all the creators who will have made this festival a once-in-a-lifetime celebration.
