As a teacher who has served many different socioeconomic areas of our community, the most evident truth of my experiences is that right now kids are needing two things:
1.) To step out of the rush of life, to reconnect to themselves and practice healthy ways to regulate their emotions. I feel strongly that this happens most fluidly and authentically when we can gift children with tools for positive self-talk and self-calming. The asana practice of yoga appeals to the energetic body of children, and along with the mindfulness piece yoga challenges and empowers .
2.) Kids need more time connecting with themselves, with one another and with nature (and less with a screen!) Weather permitting, my kids yoga classes would be held outside and/or have some sort of nature element embedded.
Here's what I need: An eco-friendly yoga mat costs roughly $25 dollars. I hope to lead FREE classes of 10-15 students. Any small contribution towards my goal would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for considering :)
