Sofía Draws Every Day

Sofía presents three years of her life in uncut detail. Her non-negotiable daily practice is presented as a billboard-sized grid of intimate and confessional drawings. Within the seven rows (one for each day of the week) the viewer can find patterns among the 1,096 drawings of this epic visual diary. The drawings range from self-portraits to humorous quotes, from fantastical cartoons to confessional text. She drew on the day she ran a marathon, she drew on the day she was promoted, she drew on the day she jumped out of a moving vehicle, and she drew on all of the days in between. Through her displays of vulnerability, she hopes to empower her communities by inspiring viewers to be more open and honest with each other. All funds raised would go towards the promoting, hanging, and sharing of this non-negotiable daily practice with the Latinx community of South Grand Rapids during Art Prize 9. If the $1,000 goal is reached, Art Prize will match the funds raised with an additional $1,000.
