Big 4 Caboose project, Shirley, In.

Shirley, is a small town in Central Indiana. We are about 30 minutes East of Indianapolis.
We have been working hard the last 10 years to preserve the town's history.
We have established a Historic District in town. 
We have fully restored the old train depot, which is almost as old as the town. 
We also have a completely restored Octagon House, and a recently built Big 4 Pavillion. 
These all make up our Historic District. 
In the photo is our Big 4 Caboose. After we purchased it, we had it  moved to Shirley by truck. 
We put down a section of new track by the Depot Museum for the caboose.
Now we are in the process of trying to restore the Caboose, it is the very last intact wooden Caboose
of the Big 4 Railroad.
We have a group that will give us $5000, towards its restoration  "If" we can come up with $5000 in matching funds.
Shirley owes its existence to the Railroad, and this is we're we have most of our events. 
Even though the tracks were taken up years ago, 
Shirley continues to go on.
The Shirley Historical Society is a non profit organization.  We work with the Shirley Visionaries, the Octagon House and the Town, throughout each year.
We've started this Go Fund Me page to try and get enough donations to be able to get the matching $5000 that is available to us.
This would really get us moving on the restoration and be a great asset to our Town and our Historic District.
