Slater's Fund

Hello, We are the Walker family. We (Mum, Dad, Bianca and myself Melanie) have all been living together helping my sister raise her little boy Slater.
3 weeks ago overnight our lives changed forever. My beautiful 18 month old Nephew Slater was diagnosed with a Brain Tumour there were hardly any symptoms we thought he was a happy healthy little boy.
The day the Tumour was found he was rushed to Lady Cilento children's hospital in Brisbane and underwent surgery to have a drain put in to release the pressure in his head. 1 week later they operated to see what we were faced with. The doctors were able to remove 80% of the tumour but 20% still remains. His tumour is called an ependymoma tumour they account for about 6% of childhood tumours. And only affect 1 child in 1.4million. It is malignant. They have said its about stage 2 or 3. The issue with it is what is left is quite intwined to his nerves and brain stem. So the next step is chemotherapy mainly to try and resend the tumour from the nooks and crannies so they can go in and operate again. It has been 3 weeks now we have not left Slater's side, he spent a week in PICU and is a little fighter, we have all be living in holiday accomodation, but can't keep staying here and need to find something more permanent in Brisbane.  I have started this fund to help with expenses, I have given up work to be by my sisters side as its a big job. Since the operation Slater can't talk his eyes are stuck off to one side and his face has dropped some days we see slight improvement in him but most times its 1 step forward and 2 steps back.
