SKYMANDALA Fundraiser

Your donation will help directly fund the creation of SKYMANDALA and transport to the playa. SKYMANDALA is a social, interactive and participatory sculpture to be located in the 9&B plaza.  It is a social group weaving project that brings together artists and community to congregate playfully under, wonder at the sky through, and make friends around. We are asking for your help in bringing this project to life. The intended result of the SKYMANDALA is a web of relationships that will arise from participation, networking, openness, inclusion, bonding, and commitment to community and to celebratory art culture. The interactive weaving of the mandalas will inspire new friendships through collaborative art making, weaving a web of creatively empowered community. Participants will create a framework of wood, string mandalas, a stage, and lighting. The result will be a venue for expression and a gathering place for neighborhood culture throughout the week. The neighborhood will network to offer open-invitations to use this sculpture as a venue.  The sculpture will grow as our neighborhood community grows through mandala making and erecting workshops that will allow the larger community to help expand the initial sculpture -- for many it will be their first chance at doing hands-sculptural art!
