Olivia’s Story

“Let’s go home mom!”those are the words of Olivia As they are once again admitted to the hospital. At the age of 5, old enough to know she has seen better days outside those four walls that become more inward each day. Playgrounds to be played, sandy beaches to be combed with her chubby feet, and a school bus to hop on promptly, filled with cheerful boisterous kids taking her a
to world she knows as fun.

Olivia the youngest of three. Sibling to Elena, age 12 and Ava, age 7. Daughter to Ismael and Monica. Ismael is a wonderful father and provider and Monica an amazing fully time mother.

At the age of one in 2014, Olivia Diaz was diagnosed with T-Cell Leuekmia, Acute Lymphoblastic lymphoma. She was admitted immediately to Kaiser Permanente located in Fontana California. There she underwent a series of chemotherapy treatments and radiation. From that time on in the hospital, it would encompass all her world as she knew it. Greeting passerby’s, charming the hearts of nurses, doctors and just about any staff member she came across. She was discharged July 7th of 2016. It was a great day. It was then Olivia began her journey as a normal kid, at least as best as she could physically.
Round two. Once again in March of 2018 she was again admitted to Kaiser, then age 5. She was given more chemotherapy and a Bone Marrow Transplant. Fortunately, her sister Ava, was a match and willingly donated her Bone Marrow. She had her BMT at City of Hope in the summer of 2018 and remained there trough the end of August that same year. She was discharged to go home with some restrictions. She recovered well enough to commence school and be home with Her family for a year.

Now the journey begins once again, at age 6, just after her one year anniversary mark of having had a BMT. She has been diagnosed with AML a more aggressive leukemia. Oct 4, 2019 will be admitted to City of hope to start our journey have more chemotherapy and instead of Bone Marrow transplant oli is will be getting stem cell transplant from her sister Ava. Will be at City of Hope for 3 months. I decided to start a GoFundMe to help supplement the loss of income, food expenses, medical expenses, and the expense of traveling to and forth from Beumont to City of Hope (Arcadia, CA), a distance of 67 miles.
Any donation helps and is gratefully appreciated. Thank you
