First of all, we want to say THANK YOU because y'all have been so FANTASTIC to us!! We've gotten so many calls and messages cheering us on, lots of enthusiastic visits from tourists and locals alike during our special events. Everyone we meet when we're out and about is so excited about Charlottesville's First Meadery! (And let me tell you, being The First is the coolest honor!) Even better, all our friends and fans in Altavista and Lynchburg have been amazing, too, making special trips up here to see us after cheering us on for the five years we produced in Altavista. We've been getting great feedback from our retailers everywhere, telling us that their customers are asking for Skjald's meads and wanting more! Y'all, please know that all this just blows us away and we are so grateful.
So now here we are, almost completely settled in to our awesome new location in Charlottesville, ready to go, and we've hit ANOTHER snag. (It's like how I mountain bike... look at the wrong tree, crash!) This time, it's a paperwork delay, and, we're embarrassed to admit, all our fault. We submitted all the right things, but in the wrong order <insert eyeroll> and now we're on another 30-day delay. This makes a total of SIX MONTHS behind schedule and WAAAAYYY behind budget, scared to death, so here we are, asking for more help.
In the spirit of Go Big or Go Home, we're going to ask for A LOT. This amount will cover the rent we're behind on, and some of it to come, buy us some shiny new BIG fermenters, a Bigger Better Bad-Ass filtration system, a fancy new (professionally designed!) website, plus put some spit-shine and polish on our tasting room. I mean, by Big Brewer's standards this isn't a lot of money, but it is to us, and I know it is to you, too. Y'all work HARD for the money, and to share and support us is a big deal, and we want to offer y'all some cool stuff in return. We'll put your name on our donor wall, hook you up with everyone's favorite cool (and fun!) *Sk-y'all-d* bumper stickers, shirts, glasses, magnets, and whatever else we can come up with! There's even options for MEAD CLUB membership! What's so special about Mead Club, you ask? Well, first rule of Mead Club is we talk about Mead Club, then we drink mead. And then we talk some more about Mead Club, and brag to our friends! Ha! But seriously, Mead Club will have some wonderful benefits, like discount pricing at the mead hall or online, exclusive releases like small batch experiments and first runs that won't be offered to the public unless there's something left over. And I'm sure there will be occasional exclusive Mead Club swag created just for you, too.
