Support Skeptical Raptor website
Back in January 2012, when we started, there were just 100 visitors. Now we get several million a month.
The monster that I created now requires a serious investment in servers, smart programmers, and a sledgehammer to its side to deal with number of hits we get.
To prevent the daily crashes we have been experiencing lately, which frustrate my readers who use our articles to debunk myths and tropes, we need funds to move to a better server, to clean up some annoying code, and to improve the site's look and feel.
These funds will help this website continuing fighting for science and logic. This will help us, especially those who write for this website, to make a difference in so many areas. Like vaccines. And global climate change. And medicine.
Anything you can contribute will be appreciated, and help us make a difference. Thank you for taking the time to read this plea for funds.
As I promised, we still need a little bit more to run the website for a year, to maintain the server that keeps this website running, and to reduce some of the more annoying ads, like "This no named actress lost 50 lbs using this secret." Uh huh.
We really need your help to hit the overall goal for the year. Please give, so that we can continue to provide great content for 2017.
Unfortunately, some of what I planned to do to improve the website, instead went towards preventing a brute force hacking attack. They didn't get anything, but I had to make sure they didn't. I had to hire some guy sitting at his computer, to look through thousands of lines of code, and patched anything problematic. Thankfully I use powerful passwords and log-in credentials, so it was more time and money wasting rather than destructive.
Oh the drama of the modern world.
Thus, we're looking for a little bit more to wrap this up. If you've helped, thank you for everything. If you can spare a touch more. Thank you. If you're new hear and can spare something, that would appreciated.
Please help if you can.
There's more work to do there, but it's a good start. With the fully funding, we can make the website last a long time, providing snarky commentary on pseudoscience for years to come.
This week someone will be attacking the code. I have some inefficiencies with various acronyms that make no sense to me. I'm hiring a starving programmer (I don't think he's really starving, but it's what he cause himself and his wife).
The last bit of cash will be invested in modernizing the look. This will take time, because we'll try something, then it might make things worse. But it will be my favorite part.
Whatever you can contribute to keep this website up and running will be greatly appreciated.
I hate begging. So please help out if you can.
The feathery extinct dinosaur appreciates your help.
