Thank you for taking the time to hear more about our SIYABONGA HOUSE OF HOPE Project in Uganda, Africa.
This love story  began with a picture of a little girl standing outside a school-yard fence.  Being a teacher, this image deeply affected me, and I chose to share it with my then 7th grade students in Benton City, WA.  "Is this okay for a child to not get to attend school?"  I posed to them.  "Why should she not get to go to school simply because she is poor and unable to purchase a school uniform and supplies?"  To my excitement, my students began to generate ideas on how we could raise money to help her.  They chose to make bracelets out of parachute chording in the Rwandan flag colors and sell them around the school for $5.00 apiece.  In the meantime, I sought out help through an organization I was currently partnering with in Rwanda to ask if they would be able to locate her.  Within two days, 110 students raised enough money to send her to school for a year!  Two weeks later, we located her and learned that she lived with her mother and brother and was named Rebecca.  I instantly set up a sponsorship and distributed her photo to my students.  Rebecca's face began to grace the covers of agendas and lockers.

Later that spring, we received a picture of her looking clean, healthy and happy.  My students chose to be the change they wanted to see in the world, and even chose to celebrate the news with the School Board and their friends.

In June of 2013, I traveled with a friend to Butare, Rwanda and got to meet Rebecca in person.  She lived with her mother and brother in a 3x7' shack and covered up with trash each night.  Due to her father's abandonment, her mother had begun to sell herself into prostitution to feed her children, and the children were often present during her tricks.  As I spoke with her mother,  through an interpretor, she began to cry as I  communicated the whole story of how we had found daughter, and the awesomeness of God choosing to have me see her all the way around the world.  I vowed to her that she would never have to worry again about money for food or her daughter attending the school that she had grown to love.  We also purchased a goat for her and took the picture attached to this campaign. It was such an amazing journey of love and the soverignty of God's provision.

Recenty, I was informed that things have taken a turn for the worst regarding Rebecca.  Her family lost their home, goat,  and have been forced to live in a slum, where they were located trying to sell ONE onion!  This is unacceptable to me and I must help to bring hope back to people I love.

Will you partner with me?
Take note of the difference in the two photos of Rebecca and her mother.  I cannot sit by and watch such a tragedy.

HERE'S SOME GOOD NEWS!
GOD is FAITHFUL and close to the broken-hearted.  We have acquired land in Uganda and are now in partnership with two trusted organizations there Siyabonga and Bridge of Hope Ministries.
http://www.siyabongaafrica.org/
http://boham.org/

Our new mission is to work with Siyabonga to create a Village of Hope where orphans or less advantaged the children receive an education, vital necessities and the dignity of belonging to a self-sustaining (farming and trade training) community  of believers.  Rebecca's family will receive the first home (one side of a duplex) to begin our Siyabonga Hope Village.

Look at the HOUSE DESIGN HERE.
As the village grows, the trusted adults within each home, will begin to care for the children within the Siyabonga ministry ensurinng a positive, safe, living and learning environment.  Each home willl have a small piece of land that can be farmed or house livestock- which can later generate a steady income for the families within the village.   People will gain back dignity as they build their own houses and no longer have to live in fear of the future or the opression of taxes and overbearing landlords.  This project is IMPERATIVE and needs our immediate attention, as each day, our little girl clings to the hope that God WILL make things better.  Together, we can make this a reality.

There will be Three Phases for this building project.  We need approximately $3,400 USD to begin building the duplex and then the rest are for windows, doors and other parts.
